Hello everyone!
My name is Tenzin Tieman and 22 years old and living in IJmuiden.
August 13, 2023 will be my 6th crossing Stavoren – Medemblik. The 1st time as a 16-year-old swam out in 2017.
My heaviest was in 2021; 4 months after the accident and still recovering from, among other things, 6 broken ribs, but still managed to complete the crossing.
Last year 2022 I was able to significantly improve my time and hope to be able to set a good time this year too, so I have started in ‘open-water’ training

I am Cynthia Koolman.
I have been swimming in open water from an early age,
when I was 15 years old I already dreamed of swimming on the IJsselmeer.
When I was 16 years old, I had reached the limit at the NK in the 10 km,
but unfortunately corona kicked in and unfortunately it didn’t happen.
When I turned 18 years old I did more 10 kilometers to reach the limit, when I
switched to Steenwijk, my trainers supported and I made it
I hit the limit and now I’m 19 years old and I’m going to swim across the IJsselmeer!
Hello!
In 2017 I swam my debut crossing, more than a month later one
double crossing with 4 fast men in the 50+ category.
That record stands, reason to want to do the crossing more often.
But due to physical reasons (hernia, corona) and private circumstances I was not fit enough
and therefore not possible.
I hope to close this and have been able to qualify.
Honestly, I didn’t think I’d be this far

My name is Madi Armstrong & I am 22 years old from Australia.
Last year was my first crossing & I am so excited to return to the Netherlands again this year!
I did my first 10km race when I was 13 (and many, many 10km races since then) but the IJsselmeer was my first ultra marathon.
Since then, I have completed 2 other ultras & learned lots so hopefully I can bring those learnings to this years race & improve on my second placing from last year.
The count down begins!
Hi,
my name is Martin Straka, I am 22 years old and I’m from Prague, Czechia.
I have been competing in openwater since 2016, mostly 5km and 10km distances in Czechia as well as in international meets.
Recently I placed 13th in the 10km at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, marking my best performance so far.
I swam the 25km just twice and the 20km a few times in Czechia.
This will be my first ever crossing, so my goal is to enjoy it as much as possible and take in the new experience.
